My favorite subject this semester

This semester has been very difficult for me, and in general I didn’t like the subjects of this second period of this year. But I can do an exception, because I have been really enjoying the subject of GIS Applications 1.

I like this subject because evaluations are class by class work, and on a stipulated date, all the work you have done for a month or two months is delivered, so it’s a very practical subject, we only work on our computers in class using a program called ArcGIS Pro.

About the contents, we only learn about something that appears in the ArcGIS Pro program, because it’s a difficult program, which sometimes even requires programming. So, the teachers teach us according to the stage of the project we are in. For example, we have seen some contents like how to make a “Model Builder”, interpolate precipitation, learn how to do the “normalized difference vegetation index”, and many other things.

I can say that I really like this subject because it’s the only subject I can feel relaxed this semester, for example, when I’m anxious because I don’t know what to do in the ArcGIS Pro program, the teachers calm you, they are very helpful explaining, they are always very relaxed. In addition, you can talk with your classmates, listen to music together, go to other parts of the classroom, etc.

Finally, I like this subject because I feel that I learn very fast, I really like learning about this subject, and I have also thought about continuing my studies in relation to Geographic Information Systems.

    The teacher is crucial in a subject. Is who can change the "boring topic" to a funnier topic, to one that brings you desire to study.

    you are very good at GIS!! I hope we continue to learn a lot throughout the degree and that we continue with this class system. I also really like feeling relaxed in class

Summer holidays

 There is very little time left for the summer holidays, and honestly, I don't know what I'm going to do during the 2 months of vacations. Change is good

Sometimes I’m grateful of studying Geography, I think is more relaxed than the career of Design or Architecture, but also, I think that it’s so difficult sometimes do other things outside of university, we always have to be doing something like works, homework, etc. In the same line, I think the subjects in this career are very entertaining and useful for our futures, but sometimes you never have time, so I don’t like that, and so I would change the time you have to dedicate to each subject. In general terms, the faculty infrastructure is so poor, we don’t have minimal things like nurse’s office, spaces to eat, hiding from the rain, some comfortable spaces to rest, etc. So, in my opinion, this faculty is very bad according to the facilities that they offer you. Also, in Geography, we need a lot of field visits, but we don’t have enough, and there aren’t resources for that. Starry Night

Choosing my favorite photo was very difficult, I think I forgot too many photos, because I have many, but I think this is the best. This photograph was taken by me, in the winter holidays of this year, exactly in August, in the location of Ancapulli, La Araucanía Region. I think this is the most beautiful photo that I have ever taken in my life, because it shows how beautiful the sky was that night, I had never seen the starry sky so clear, and I had never seen so many shooting stars, that was a very special moment.
